After Earth is made uninhabitable, the remaining people of Earth move to Planet Wind.
Planet Wind has plenty of resources including copper, steel, and, of course, wind. In order to
memorialize Earth, on the journey from Earth to Planet Wind, one thousand people were tasked
to bring Earth materials, and twelve people were tasked to create this memorial on the new
planet. This memorial was a Meta-Turbine. The Meta-Turbine was made completely out of Earth
materials and stood 400 feet tall. It was placed in a public park on Planet Wind.
In order to sustain life on this new planet, technical turbines were also created to produce
energy. These were placed in the same public park as the Meta-Turbine was. The inhabitants of
Planet Wind were very thankful for the turbines because they are the life-source of this planet.
As the Meta-Turbine naturally decomposed, as it was made out of the Earth materials, people
decided to sustain the memory to Earth by creating Mini Meta-Turbines. These are made
partially out of the materials from the original Meta-Turbine, and mostly out of the material from
Planet Wind. In a way, these Mini Meta-Turbines are relics and reminders of Earth. Every
twenty-five years on this planet, one Mini Meta-Turbine and twelve technical turbines are
created. They are all placed in the same park, creating ideas of immortality, materiality, and ideas
about shifting memory.
This memorial to life on Earth is especially focused on how the natural and the material
world connect and intertwine, and how reminders to Earth can work in terms of the memory of
Earth before it was destroyed by humans. Some of these turbines are practical, others are artistic. They all exist in the same space, and their continuance is based solely on whether or not people will continue this practice of creation. It is possible that this process is not immortal, but even so,
material reminders will always remain in this park.
